A tilt and turn window does two jobs from a single handle: tilt it for secure background air, or turn it to swing the whole sash inward like a door. That one mechanism decides how you ventilate the room, how you clean the glass, and why it suits upper floors. These are the choices we work through before a survey.
The handle turns to two stops. The first tilts the top of the sash inward for ventilation; the second swings the whole sash open into the room. Both work off the same single handle, so the window is simple to use and easy to reach.
Turned to the first position, the sash hinges at the bottom and leans inward at the top. It gives steady background airflow while staying secure: the sash cannot be pushed open from outside in tilt mode, so it is safe to leave on the latch on an upper floor.
Turned to the second position, the whole sash swings inward like a door. It opens the room right up, and because the glass comes to you, you can clean the outer face from inside, with no ladders and no reaching out of an upper-floor window.
A single in-line handle drives both positions through a concealed multi-point gear. Switching from tilt to full opening takes a deliberate second rotation, which doubles as child safety, and opening restrictors can be fitted to limit the travel further.

The hardware that makes a tilt and turn work is hidden inside the frame, which keeps the look clean and gives nothing for an intruder to attack. The security is built in as standard, not added as an upgrade.
The hinges sit within the frame profile, so there is no visible hinge hardware on the outside face and nothing exposed to force. It also gives the window a clean, modern line inside and out.
The handle drives an espagnolette that engages locking keeps at multiple points around the frame. It is Secured by Design accredited, BSI tested, and backed by a 10-year mechanical guarantee, and the window stays locked and secure even in the tilt position. All glass is internally beaded so it cannot be removed from outside.
The cutaway shows the 70mm multi-chamber profile that traps warm air within the frame and carries a continuous rebate gasket for weather-tightness and soundproofing, reaching A+ ratings with U-values from 1.3 W/m2K.

Step 1
We measure every opening and check the lintel, sill, and reveal, then plan each window around the inward action: whether furniture, curtains, blinds, taps, or a deep window board would catch the sash as it opens, where the single handle sits for easy reach, which rooms need a restrictor, and how the upper floors will be cleaned from inside.
Step 2
Each tilt and turn is built to the measured size on the 70mm multi-chamber profile, with the concealed hinges, the espag multi-point gearing, A+ double or triple glazing, any acoustic or obscure glass, and the colour foil inside and out all locked together before manufacture.
Step 3
Our Cii team fits and seals each frame, then sets the gearing so the single handle moves cleanly through both stops: tilt for secure background air, and full inward turn for cleaning. We confirm the window cannot be forced in tilt mode, fit trickle vents where Building Regulations require them, and hand over with the Cii 10-year guarantee and Assure certification.
