What is a flat rooflight?
A flat rooflight is a glazed unit fitted over an opening in a flat roof, sitting on a kerb or upstand so rainwater drains off the glass. Skylight, roof light, and flat roof window all describe the same thing: glass set into a flat roof to bring daylight straight down into the room below. The Maxi-Flat version we fit across Essex uses one continuous sealed panel with no dividing bars, built on the same slim aluminium system as our hipped lantern range, so more of the opening is glass and the external finish stays cleaner than a raised lantern. We survey the prepared roof opening, kerb, roof fall, drainage, glass route, and colour, and confirm whether a fixed or opening unit is the better fit before the written quote.

Frame colour
Five RAL colours are stocked for fast availability, and any other RAL can be ordered to match the roof or the room. Darker greys read cleanest against a plastered ceiling.

Double glazed 24mm or triple glazed 36mm sealed units, with four tints to manage glare and solar heat for the way the room faces.

A flat rooflight is the lower-profile route for bringing light into an Essex extension without making the glazing a raised feature. It is often the better choice where planning, roof height, neighbouring views, upstairs sightlines, or a clean contemporary roofline matter.

Install & weathering sign-off
Our Cii team lifts the unit into place, fixes it to the kerb, and seals and weathers the junction with the flat roof. We check the seal, glass, and any vent controls at handover, and back the installation with the Cii 10-year guarantee.
