Kerb and upstand
Lanterns and rooflights are sized to the outside of the kerb, not the hole in the ceiling. The first numbers we need are the outside length and width of the kerb you are building, its height, and the roof fall. Timber or masonry, insulated, with the vapour control carried up it and the roof covering lapped over the top.
Glass never sits straight on the roof covering. Even a low-profile rooflight sits on a kerb, because the upstand is what keeps the water out. It is the detail that gets missed when a rooflight is ordered from a plan.
Electric vents, opening rooflights and blinds need a cable route before the roof is closed, so get the electrician on the plan early.
Colours
Five powder-coated colours for the quickest lead time. Any other RAL colour to order, to match the roof or the room.

Glass
Self-cleaning outer pane, argon filled, warm edge spacer and toughened safety glass as standard on every unit.
Double glazed, 24mm
The standard unit. Glass U-value 1.2 W/m²K.
Triple glazed, 36mm
The upgrade for bigger lanterns and rooms that need to stay warmer. Glass U-value 0.7 W/m²K.
Solar control tints
Cuts glare and heat on south-facing roofs. The figure is how much of the sun's heat the double glazed unit reflects.

Roof blinds only go in flat rooflights. They are not offered on lanterns or any sloping glass.

Send the kerb
Product, outside kerb length and width, kerb height, roof fall, colour, glass, vent or blind, and access for delivery.

Size against the kerb, glass build-up and weight, vent and blind wiring, lifting and access, in writing.

Order and lead time
Stock colours are quickest. Other RAL colours, vents and blinds add time, stated on the quote and held.

Collect or deliver
Lanterns come as a kit of bars, ridge and glass; rooflights as one unit. We tell you how many people the largest pane needs. Collect from Danes Road, Romford, Mon to Thu 8am to 4pm and Fri 8am to 3pm, with job-waste drop-off included. Local delivery is available subject to order value and location.
Building Regulations
Part L for new roof glazing, Part K safety glazing, Part B for roof openings near boundaries, and a structural check on the kerb and roof.
